Dermapen Micro-Needling & PRP/Stem Cell Therapy
Micro-needling creates fractional micro-channels that activate the skin’s own renewal and repair response. Procedures can be performed in a little as an hour with the skin’s repair cascade continuing for up to two years. Micro-needling is safe on all skin colors to treat an array of skin conditions such as:
- Fine lines & wrinkles
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Enlarged pores
- Stretch Marks
- Acral vitiligo
- Dilated capillaries
PRP/Stem Cell Micro-Needling or Injections
Facial Rejuvenation/Wrinkle Reduction, Hair Restoration, and Injections for Joint/Tendon Repair/Pain Reduction
This non-surgical therapy is the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, where a high-concentration of the patient’s own blood, fat or bone marrow is used and injected back into the face, hair follicle or joint to release growth factors and proteins.
PRP specific growth factors that include:
- Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)— promotes blood vessel growth, cell replication, skin formation;
- Transforming Growth-Factor-Beta (TGF-b)— promotes growth of matrix between cells, bone metabolism;
- Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF)— promotes blood vessel formation;
- Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)— promotes cell growth and differentiation, blood vessel formation, collagen formation;
- Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 (FGF-2)— promotes growth of specialized cells and blood vessel formation; and,
- Insulin Like Growth Factor – (IGF)— a regulator of normal physiology in nearly every type of cell in the body
- Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF)— an important endogenous mediator of hair follicle growth, development, and differentiation.
The PRP/Stem Cell Therapy is a higher concentration that stimulates stem cells and the healing of soft tissue. This in turn, aids in the rebuilding for collagen and leaves you with healthy supple skin.
When injected at the onset of injury, growth factors can increase 5-10 times more than we normally have within our blood, speeding up healing and injury.
Questions & Answers
What is micro-needling?
A medically engineered device that utilizes 12 surgical grade micro needles to deliver effective skin needling. The treatment incorporates vertical oscillation technology to trigger the skin’s natural healing response. Multiple treatments provide long lasting rejuvenation and correction for the face and body.
How does micro-needling work?
It stimulates the skin’s healing response encouraging the production of precious growth factors, collagen and elastin for a naturally rejuvenated, revitalized and regenerated skin.
How does micro-needling compare to other methods of skin rejuvenation?
Micro-needling produces a non-thermal and minimally ablative treatment that can be performed on all skin tones reducing the risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or fibrotic scar tissue.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes. All treatment needles are single-use and sterile.
How soon will I see results?
Results typically may be seen after just one treatment, however cumulative treatments may be required to achieve the full desired results. The regenerating process will continue for up to 24 months post-treatment.
Is the treatment painful?
A mild numbing cream provides comfort and Dermapen’s unique oscillating system further increases tolerance by diffusing nerve sensation.
What is the downtime?
Localized swelling may last up to 2 days post treatment. Make-up may be used 24 hours post procedure to reduce visible redness. Most patients can resume normal activities immediately after a micro-needling treatment.
What conditions can a micro-needling procedure treat?
The Dermapen is able to treat various conditions, such as aging, wrinkles, ultra violet damage, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, vitiligo, rosacea, telangiectasia, problematic acne, dilated pores, milia, keratosis pilaris, scarring, stretch marks, alopecia and more.
How many treatments will I require?
Generalized rejuvenation can be achieved in as little as three treatments. Conditions such as scarring and stretch marks however may require a minimum of 5 sessions. Depending on the condition being targeted, treatments are performed on average 4-8 weeks.
How soon after wrinkle reduction or dermal filler injections can a micro-needling treatment be performed?
2 weeks before or after anti-wrinkle or filler injections.
What conditions are not recommended by a micro-needling treatment?
Active papulopustular rosacea, acne vulagaris stage III – IV active herpes simplex, active warts, scleroderma, active bacterial/fungal infections, open lesions, active solar keratosis, active skin cancer, hemophilia, pregnant or lactating parents.
